My name is John Murphy, a 7th grade Texas History teacher @ the LLMS.
I teach 6 classes per day, Two being Pre-AP Texas history, and Two Regular Texas history classes and one Teen Leadership class, as well as,8th grade athletics.
I am excited to be here and honored in having the privilege to teach your child. We
are off to a great start but I want to inform you of what’s going on in your child’s class.
The school has the program called CHAMPS which targets success in the
classroom as well as outside the classroom. CHAMPS stand for:
C-communication, H-help, A- activity, M-movement, P- participation, S- success!!
My classroom expectations are to:
- Listen to instructions
- Enter and exit prepared
- Always try your best
- Respect yourself and others, No Put down’s,
- NO excuses (zero excuses 100% Acountability
Each day the students enter my room, there is a warm-up to be completed independently and we go over it as a class.
History Journals are used to record notes and used as a tool and a study guide for the various
concepts taught within 7th grade Texas history.
The 7th grade curriculum is taught so that each child learns, to grasp the concepts and be able
to apply what they have mastered on assessments.
We focus on Major ERA’s in history, and concepts from history that can be applied in
today’s changing world. I don’t mind answering questions or assisting whenever necessary. An
open door policy is welcomed for your convenience.
