STAAR Testing Begins April 10

April 10 begins the first round of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) - Please make sure your students get a good night's sleep and eat a well-balanced breakfast before coming to school these days. Campuses testing will be closed to visitors on testing days.

Tues., April 10 - Grade 4, 7 Writing; Grade 5, 8 Math; English I (WHS)
Wed., April 11 - Grade 5, 8 Reading
Thurs., April 12 - English II (WHS)

There are some changes this year to the 5th and 8th grade Student Success Initiative procedures. A letter was sent home on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Click the headline to read the letter.

Amber Ruiz Named March MVP

Amber Ruiz, an eighth-grade ELA teacher at Lucas Middle School, was named March MVP. She was honored with a video tribute during the board meeting March 21.

Misael De Los Reyes, an eighth-grade student from Lynn Lucas Middle School, was named the Zone VIII Spelling Bee Champion during regional competition held February 9 in Huntsville.

No Make-Up Days Required

Willis ISD closed schools due to bad weather Jan. 16-17, 2018. District administration has verified that there are enough instructional minutes built into our academic calendar that students will NOT be required to make up the two missed days.
