Each month, teachers submit nominations to the Teacher Advisory Committee member at their campus. The campus representatives select a finalist for each campus. These nominations are submitted to the communications department for review. Students are chosen based on a variety of qualities, including leadership, citizenship, academics and attendance.
Aileen Ripkowski, fifth grade teacher at Meador, described Marian as, “an amazing human being, who pushes me to be a better teacher daily. She is an academic sponge but thirsts for knowledge in very creative ways. She makes my day brighter just by being her.”
“Ze’Avon has always been a joy to be around,” said Leigh Elmore, Mentor Coordinator. “She is always respectful, gives 100 percent, rarely misses school and is always quick to help other students and staff members. She sees the importance of setting goals and working hard, and yet she is very humble.”“Recognizing students each month is one of the highlights of our board meetings,” said Tim Harkrider, Superintendent. “Ze’Avon and Marian are shining examples of our Willis pride.”
