Students need friendships and social connections with peers to be happy and successful.  Students with friends have a more positive attitude toward school, have better relationships with teachers, are more engaged in class, and have greater school success.  Friendships and social connections with peers also make students less likely to be bullied and less emotionally harmed if they are bullied.

This lesson is intended to help older students embrace their role as leaders and role models within the school.  The goal is to increase empathetic, responsible, and helpful behavior and reduce aggression, including bullying, against younger students.
